The Boat Lady Patty, a canoe sterned ketch was designed by Phillip Rhodes and built in 1935 by M.M. Davis & Son Shipbuilders of Solomons Island, Maryland. She is 45 feet overall with a beam or width of 12'. Her spars are varnished Sitka Spruce and her cabin house, decks and trim are all original teak. Her main mast towers 56 feet above the water and when combined with her mizzen mast can carry more then 1000 square feet of sail. More about the boat.... Her Captain Captain Jeffrey Mathias began his professional maritime career in 1997 as First Mate aboard Lady Patty. For three years he helped maintain and operate the vessel with Captain Mike Richards. He has worked professionally as Captain of crew, survey and utility boats as well as hovercrafts and air boats. Captain Jeff possesses a U.S.C.G. 100 Ton Master License and a long-time love of sailing and maintaining the yacht Lady Patty. The Island Tilghman Island, a quaint waterman village is located about an hour and a half from Annapolis on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Tilghman Island remained undiscovered by vacationers for a long time because it is quite literally “the end of the road” on the Bay Hundred Peninsula. Tilghman Island is home to an active and vibrant boating community both pleasure and commercial as well as numerous B&Bs, Inns, markets and excellent restaurants. |
